The ESOL Graduate Certificate and Dual Language Graduate Certificate programs start in summer term or fall term. Applications are now closed for the 2022-2023 academic year. Applications for summer 2023 start will be open in March 2023.
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement Program at Oregon State University focuses on helping Oregon's pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade (PK-12) teachers learn how to effectively work with students who are learning English as an additional language. If you are bilingual in English and Spanish you can earn an ESOL endorsement and a Dual Language specialization at the same time.
Students enrolled in the MAT Clinically-Based Education program or the MS in Education program can complete the coursework to obtain the ESOL Endorsement with their license. Students enrolled in these programs are not eligible to receive the ESOL Graduate Certificate or Dual Language Graduate Certificate.
Students enrolled in the Education Double Degree program on the Corvallis campus can complete the ESOL Endorsement coursework. At the end of the Education Double Degree coursework and ESOL coursework, students will have the ESOL Endorsement added onto their Preliminary teaching license. All courses are delivered in hybrid format - a mix of online instruction and face-to-face meetings. Education Double Degree students are eligible to take Dual Language Specialization courses. (*Contact Tiffany Palaniuk for approval.)
Students enrolled in the MAT program on the OSU-Cascades campus can complete the coursework required to obtain their ESOL Endorsement. Classes are held in-person on the Cascades campus.
Cascades-area teachers who wish to add the ESOL endorsement to their current Oregon teaching license may combine OSU-Cascades and Ecampus online coursework.
