Ready to build a career in Special Education?

Our two-year program is designed to give our students flexibility, individualized support, and hands-on experience as they learn the skills necessary for special education teaching.

Flexibility and support

The MAT-SPED is fully online with a final year of practicum, or in-person teaching experience. We help students outside of Corvallis coordinate their practicum to occur in a special education classroom in their community.

Celebrating disability as an identity

Our program emphasizes inclusive practices and strength-based approaches, rather than rehabilitation-focused methods. We see disability as an aspect of identity and focus on removing barriers to academic and socio-emotional well-being for special education students.

Program outcomes

Earn your initial or additional endorsement in Special Education: Generalist. Whether you have been teaching for years or are just starting your career, this program helps students develop in-demand skills.

Explore your options

We offer a Special Education Graduate Certificate and a Foundations of Inclusion & Special Education Microcredential. Both fully online programs, they serve as professional development opportunities and can be stacked towards the master's degree.
