We are excited to share that College of Education Counseling Instructor Dr. Jeff Tucker is the recipient of the 2026 Oregon State University Ecampus Excellence in Online Teaching & Student Engagement Award.

Tucker says, “I am beyond touched and grateful to receive this award. This award means that, in my own small way, I'm making a positive impact on the lives of learners. My students also have a tremendously positive impact on me. I learn from them daily.”

In all his courses, Tucker hopes his students can see themselves as forces for positive change. He tells us that he wants his students to know that their lived experiences and voices truly matter. For Tucker, the most rewarding part of being an instructor is watching students learn, develop, and improve in their craft over time.

He recognizes that online learning can be isolating, but works hard to make sure that his courses feel engaging and personal. “I attempt to engage with learners, hear their concerns, and interact with them as fellow humans in an authentic manner. I also have students’ backs, and they know it. This all seems to resonate with them. Ultimately, this award means I’m doing something right, but I still have plenty of room to learn and grow.”

In just his first year with the College, Tucker has made an incredible impact on his students and the College of Education community. He says, “To the individuals who put this in motion, thank you. I’m still in my first year at OSU, and this award helps me feel like I truly belong here.”
