Live to Teach Living-Learning Community

The Live to Teach Living-Learning Community (LLC) offers a space for future teachers to build community and connect with their instructors and advisors. Students participate in the College of Education’s Ment2Teach peer mentoring program and engage in social, academic, and service opportunities as they prepare for impactful careers in education.

The LLC is part of Ment2Teach in cooperation with University Housing & Dining Services.

Benefits of the Live to Teach Living-Learning Community 

Build a community: Create strong bonds with peers in the College of Education by living with other teaching students. You’ll cultivate professional and academic connections with staff, faculty, and cohort members through mentorship and events. 

Personalized mentorship: You’ll get connected with a peer mentor in our Ment2Teach program who can help provide personalized support as you enter the College of Education, from your first classes to registration and finals. Your mentor connects you with resources throughout Oregon State to help you gain the skills and tools to thrive! 

Learn by doing: Develop your teaching skills and enhance your resume through our experiential learning opportunities held in partnership with local schools and other community organizations.

Requirements for living in the Live to Teach LLC 

  • Active and engaged participation in the Ment2Teach Mentorship program
  • Students in the Live to Teach LLC are expected to:
    • Meet with their assigned Ment2Teach Mentor once per term
    • Attend Ment2Teach signature events 
    • Engage in exclusive LLC programming

 

Facilities 

  • Located in Callahan Hall, which offers a wide variety of on-site amenities and support. This includes on-site and on-call staff, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 
  • There is no additional cost for a student who chooses to reside in the LLC. 
  • Located close to Furman Hall, the College of Education’s student success hub, and where most education classes are held. 
  • Nearby dining options include McNary Dining Center and Java II in the Valley Library.

Frequently Asked Questions

Living-Learning Communities are academic programs that partner with residential communities on campus. In addition to living among students in the same major, college, academic focus or program, we hold events in your community that are related to your area of interest. The Live to Teach LLC in particular brings together students in the College of Education!

As you complete part one of the housing application, you will have the opportunity to indicate interest in a Living-Learning Community, such as the Live to Teach LLC.

The Housing application for the 2026-2027 year opens on February 17th for incoming first years and February 3rd for transfer students. We recommend applying as soon as possible! For specific questions about the Housing application, please contact University Housing and Dining Services.

Any first year and transfer student is eligible to select the LLC in their housing application.

Students who live in the Live to Teach LLC are expected to participate in the College of Education’s Ment2Teach peer mentorship program, where New to OSU students are paired with a current student in the College of Education. Active participation includes meeting with your assigned Ment2Teach mentor once per term, attending signature Ment2Teach events per term, and engaging in exclusive LLC programming!
