The Master of Education in Adult and Higher Education (M.Ed-AHE) helps students gain applied skills and knowledge for designing, implementing, and assessing educational programs in a variety of formats. The two-year, fully online program is offered in partnership with OSU's award-winning Ecampus.

This two-year, part-time, fully online master’s degree program is designed for you to apply your learning to your organization’s unique learning environment, meaning you can keep your job while pursuing your education.

Unparalleled faculty support

All classes are developed and taught by OSU's renowned faculty and instructors who bring real-world experience with instructional design and instructional technology to the classroom. The coursework is rooted in equity, a value embedded throughout the entirety of the program. The average cohort size is 25 students, allowing students to gain individualized support from faculty.

Program Outcomes

This degree prepares you to design, implement, and assess educational programs in a variety of formats. You will gain the skills to deliver programming in front of an audience or behind the scenes as a content developer. Our graduates go on to become educators, trainers, developers, designers, and more.

The program takes two years to complete part-time.

If you have completed the Instructional Design Graduate Certificate, all credits are transferable to this program which only takes three additional terms to complete.

This program includes a minimum of 45 credits. You can calculate the total or term by term estimated tuition using this tuition calculator.

Content will cover instructional technology, adult learning theory, needs assessment, instructional design, instructional strategies, workplace ethics, leadership, program evaluation, and organizational theory.

Students who have graduated from this program work as educators, trainers, developers, and designers. Career titles include: Instructional Designers, eLearning Support Specialists, Technical Trainers, Program Managers, Training and Development Managers, Instructors, and Higher Education Advisors and Coordinators.

The program offers a flexible internship, with an opportunity for hands-on, applied learning. Students may choose to complete an internship within their current workplace or through established opportunities arranged by the program. OSU’s Ecampus offers a limited number of instructional design opportunities throughout the program.
