Join us for the Third Annual Ambitious Math and Science Summer Institute

This year the theme is building teacher and student agency and ownership for ambitious math and science teaching and learning.

Who:  Middle and high school math and science teachers, teacher leaders, and STEM education administrators supporting STEM educators.

When: June 18 to June 21, 2019 (start at noon on 6/18 - 3pm on 6/21)

Where:  Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon

Earn: Continuing Education units provided and OSU SED808, section 400, CRN 74239, 2 credits available. You can register for OSU credits starting on April 14, 2019.

Cost: Sliding scale $30-50 registration fee payable by check. Select the payment amount according to attendance. The confirmation page at the end of the registration will provide an address to send fee.

Housing:  Participants are responsible for travel and lodging. Low-cost housing is available on the OSU campus.  Please include the name of the conference, "Ambitious Math and Science Summer Institute" in your reservation online.

Notice: You are welcome to register for only the days you can attend given your school calendar. Please email [email protected] to register or if your plans change and you will not be able to attend.

1:00 pm: Plenary Speaker with Interactive Session

2:45 pm: Break

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Short Active Sessions

8:00 am: Coffee and Networking

8:30-10:15 am: Engaging in Examples of Practice: 

Coding with graphing calculators continued, 3 Act Tasks, Using Science Context to Learn Math, Mathematical Modeling, Math-Science linkages, and many others

10:15 am: Break

10:30 am -12:00 pm: Plenary Speaker

12:15 - 12:45 pm Lunch (provided)

1:00 - 3:00 pm Active Sessions

  • Engaging in Examples of Practice –Morning sessions are opportunities to work with educators from across the state and nationally to examine and learn about state level projects in math and science and new classroom tools, tasks, and strategies aligned with the Institute theme.
  • Active Sessions – Afternoon sessions are opportunities for teachers and teacher leaders to work in depth on a topic. Wednesday through Friday a variety of sessions will be offered.  Two or three sessions will be held each day.
  • Plenary Speakers – A selected speaker will present each day on theme of the Institute - Building teacher and student agency and ownership for ambitious math and science teaching and learning.
