Minor:

  • Education Minor An undergraduate minor in education is valuable to anyone interested in providing educational experiences, workplace training or outreach education in their chosen field. 

Endorsements & Specializations:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement focuses on helping Oregon's pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade (PK-12) teachers learn how to effectively work with students who are learning English as an additional language. If you are bilingual in English and Spanish you can earn an ESOL endorsement and a Dual Language specialization at the same time.
  • Dual Language Specialization Dual language is a form of bilingual education. This program is designed to assist preservice and licensed teachers in developing knowledge, skills and abilities in dual language instruction in order for them to effectively help K-12 students, who are learning in bilingual or dual language classrooms, improve their bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural competencies.

Graduate Certificates:

  • Instructional Design Graduate Certificate This certificate is offered by OSU’s College of Education and delivered online by OSU Ecampus, a nationally ranked leader in online education. Through the use of instructional technology, it is designed to provide you with applied skills and knowledge for designing, implementing and assessing educational programs in a variety of formats (in-person, online and hybrid).
  • ESOL Graduate Certificate Currently licensed teachers can earn this OSU Graduate Certificate, a professional certificate offered through OSU’s Graduate School. All coursework is completed online. The ESOL program focuses on helping you learn how to effectively work with dual language students and those who are learning English as an additional language.
  • Dual Language Graduate Certificate Bilingual (English/Spanish) teachers can earn the Dual Language Graduate Certificate, a professional certificate offered through OSU’S Graduate School. All coursework is completed online.

Professional Development for Educators (PDE) Instructor-led training, online certificates, and courses to enhance your skills as educators across diverse groups and settings

  • Professional E-Learning Certificate To address the growing demand for online education, Oregon State University's E-Learning Instructional Design and Development Certificate equips participants with the skills to enter - or advance in - the field of instructional design.
  • Learning Experience Design (LXD) Certificate Develop your online educational experience using the latest designs that help the learner succeed

  • Strategies for communicating STEAM ideas in public spaces In this course, we will focus on how to talk about science effectively through using stories and narratives to communicate and enhance understanding for general and specified audiences.

  • Visual design for e-learning course In this introductory-level course, you’ll learn simple graphic design principles, then practice applying these principles as you create charts, diagrams, infographics and learning materials for e-learning.

Study Abroad:

  • Macau Teaching Experience:  This is a quarter-long field opportunity offered to all OSU students through the College of Education. Through participation in this study abroad experience, students will gain experience teaching English and general studies in a classroom at the Hou Kong Premier School in Macau, China. For Education majors, this program will also satisfy your ED 309 requirement for the Double Degree program.
