ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP:

Beginning in 2024-2025, ONE competitive four-year scholarship for a future teacher will be funded through the Herbert R. and Leota L. Laslett Scholarship.

Applications from newly accepted, incoming undergraduate students pursuing teacher licensure will be considered for this scholarship. Undergraduate transfer students are also eligible.

This scholarship is funded at $18,000 per year for up to four years.

Interested students should email the following to [email protected]:

  1. A résumé

  2. A professional goal statement describing your motivation and experiences that led you to teaching (no longer than 2 pages)

  3. A statement of financial need and how the award would assist you in meeting your professional goals (no longer than 1 page)

  4. A letter of recommendation from a current faculty or staff member.

Additional consideration will be given to a student who has had a break in their education process and is coming back to college after working in education-related fields.

Semi-finalists will be asked to interview with a committee of faculty and staff. The award winner will be announced no later than June 30, 2024.

Continuing eligibility each year is dependent on the recipient’s GPA remaining above 3.0 and continued participation in the teacher licensure program.
