English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Any coursework you previously took can count towards the ESOL endorsement when you return to complete it as an add on endorsement. There is a 7 year window before credits will need to be retaken.

The ESOL endorsement is designed for K-12 classrooms in the United States. It is not intended for those solely seeking to teach outside the US and cannot be completed as a standalone endorsement.

We have an academic petition process for substituting recent ESOL coursework from another university.  See general policies in our program handbook for more information

Other coursework may be completed outside of Oregon; however, we can only support ESOL internship placements in Oregon.

  • You will need to check with the teacher licensure board/commission for that state. This website has links to the licensure boards/commissions for each state.  Please remember that the internship can only be completed in Oregon.

All coursework have ecampus sections available.
