Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Any coursework you previously took can count towards the Dual Language Specialization when you return to complete it as an add on endorsement. There is a 7 year window before credits will need to be retaken.
You can still complete the ESOL endorsement without the DL specialization.
Not at this time.
Yes. There are Oregon school districts that have Spanish Dual Language programs all the way through high school.
An interview will be conducted by DL faculty in Spanish. The interview will consist of the following:

An interview with questions and answers in Spanish

A 5-minute lesson plan in Spanish that you will create and teach in the interview.

A writing sample in Spanish
We have an academic petition process for substituting recent ESOL coursework from another university. See General Policies in the handbook for more information.
Other coursework may be completed outside of Oregon; however, we can only support ESOL internship placements in Oregon.
You will need to check with the teacher licensure board/commission for that state. This website has links to the licensure boards/commissions for each state. Please remember that the internship can only be completed in Oregon.
