Rachel joins Oregon State after spending five years as an adjunct instructor at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. During that time, she completed her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport in 2023. Her dissertation designed and pilot-tested a psychometrically valid instrument that preservice educators could use to self-assess and reflect on their abilities to use social-emotional learning (SEL) and social emotional competency (SEC) within their student teaching instructional practice. She holds a M.A. in Elementary Education and an 092 Intermediate Administration or Supervision Certificate from Sacred Heart University. Prior to her work in higher education, Rachel was an elementary educator for 12 years in both private and public schools teaching grades 1-4. In her role as an adjunct professor at SHU she taught a variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate level including serving as a university supervisor of student teachers, Junior Clinic, Education in the United States, and Methods of Elementary Social Studies, Health, and Physical Education.
