Biography: 

Cass Dykeman is a fourth-generation Oregonian. His grandfather attended Hill Military Academy in Portland and was the publisher of several Portland community newspapers. Cass' great-grandfather, Judge King Dykeman, was William Randolph Hearst's publisher for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Cass is a Professor of Counseling at Oregon State University. He received his master’s in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington and his Ph.D. in Counseling from the University of Virginia. Prior to his career in higher education, he worked as both an elementary and high school counselor in Seattle. Dr. Dykeman has published two books and has reached double digits in both peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In addition, he has secured over $1.2 million in federally sponsored external funding in the area of career counseling in K-12 settings. His current research focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence.

Before entering the field of education, Cass served as an officer in the Chemical Corps of the U.S. Army. He completed his sabbatical on Spanish language and culture at the Pontifical University of Salamanca in 2016.

Cass has held the following professional roles: President of the Washington Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, President of the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Member of the Journal of Counseling and Development Editorial Board, and Member of the CACREP On-site Accreditation Team. In terms of professional certification, Cass holds Washington State School Counselor certification. He currently serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for PsyArXiv (https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv).

In his free time, Cass enjoys playing indoor soccer and learning more about both his Huguenot and Persian heritage.
