Graduate Council-approved Learning Outcomes:

Three overarching Graduate Council-approved Learning Outcomes for the PhD in Education program are: “As a result of successfully completing the requirements toward the PhD, students shall:

  • Produce and defend an original significant contribution to knowledge
  • Demonstrate mastery of subject material; and
  • Be able to conduct scholarly activities in a responsible and ethical manner.”
  • Demonstrate leadership in LEEP Research or teaching

LEEP Specific Learning Outcomes:

In addition to the Graduate Council approved learning outcomes, the LEEP Doctoral Program students will:

  • Develop analytic skills, knowledge and sensibilities to:
    • Use meaningful and relevant literature to better understand and investigate questions in the intersection of language, equity, and education policy research;
    • Critically evaluate key social science research to construct arguments which further understanding of research in the intersection of language, equity, and education policy;
    • and,
    • Synthesize a coherent point of view using evidence-based and theoretical arguments relevant to questions in the intersection of language, equity, and education policy research.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in LEEP research or teaching
