Marsh is an educator, author, artist, videographer, photographer, and digital content creator. He has worked mostly in the non-profit arena, specializing in public education, community outreach, and conservation. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Humane Society of Southern Arizona, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium are among some of the prestigious organizations he's worked for during his career. In July 2022, Marsh joined Oregon State University as the head of the marketing and communications department for the College of Education.

In his life outside of the university, Marsh is an author, illustrator and filmmaker. His young adult novels include HIS LIFE ABIDING (2013), THE MEN IN THE TREES (2014) and MY SUMMER (WITH ROBOTS) (2018), and MY SUMMER (UNDER A CRESCENT MOON) (2021). He acted as editor and publisher for the historical memoir THE RIVER YEARS: A MEMOIR FROM THE MUDDY BANKS OF LEE'S FERRY, which was written by his mother, Dawn. His current work-in-progress is MY SUMMER (AND THE SONG OF CICADAS) which will be published in 2024.

In 2023, Marsh's publishing imprint, Laughing Boy Publications, became an official affiliate for Bookshop.org. Established in 2020, this unique organization works to connect readers with independent booksellers all over the world. Every purchase made through Bookshop.org supports independent bookstores and, in turn, independent authors.
