Our world has recently undergone a rapid shift into an online existence. Acquired skills in instructional design, technology, and training for users in remote settings are needed now more than ever. Oregon State University offers education into these skills in a variety of formats, including mini-courses, professional development certificates, graduate certificates, and a master's program.

Professional Development Certificate

E-Learning Instructional Design and Development Certificate through Professional and Continuing Education
Total Continuing Education Units (CEUs): 18
Length of certificate: 40 weeks,180 hours. These five courses do not have to be taken consecutively.

 

OSU Professional Development for Educators offers a fully online instructor-led OSU E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate.

Using educational research and practice-based learning experiences, this certificate provides working professionals with broad exposure to principles and applications for teaching or training in an online learning environment.

  • Be given expert support in developing effective and relevant e-learning courses using your own existing curriculum no matter the discipline you teach.
  • Implement and apply instructional design theories while also acquiring technical skill-sets for remote/online learning.

Graduate Certificate

Instructional Design Graduate Certificate through Adult and Higher Education
Total graduate credits: 20 (transferrable into the EdM below)
Length of program: 1 year

The Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design provides training and development to help you gain the technical and instructional skills to be a successful online educator. E-Learning has proven fundamental in the delivery of educational content. Be part of the movement that is currently shifting the future of education. Students pursuing this certificate will earn transferable graduate credit, which can be transferred directly into the master’s program in Adult & Higher Education.

Master of Education (EdM)

Master of Education (EdM) in Adult and Higher Education
Total graduate credits: 45
Length of program: 2 years

The EdM in Adult & Higher Education offers a continuation of the Instructional Design Graduate Certificate. Students pursuing this degree will expand upon the curriculum offered in the first year of the certificate and apply their newly obtained skills into practical experiences through internship and capstone. Students will gain technical and instructional skills while learning how to best present training and educational opportunities through various mediums to diverse audiences.
