Option 2: Grow Your Own (GYO) Pathway Scholarships for BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) and Bilingual Teacher Candidates: Clinically-based Options in Elementary Education

Through a GYO Grant from the Educator Advancement Council at the Oregon Department of Education, we are pleased to offer recruitment scholarships to financially support teacher candidates in our Clinically based Elementary MAT and Clinically based Elementary Education BS programs. These one-time recruitment scholarships will cover $8000 in tuition, disbursed in two amounts of $4000 in each of the first two academic terms in which you are enrolled.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bilingual, self-identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), or both
  • Admitted to OSU as a candidate to begin in summer (MAT) or fall (BS) of 2022
  • Candidate must work in a district with which the MAT/BS programs have a partnership

We will consider applications in two rounds:

  • The first will be for MAT or BS teacher candidates working in districts directly supported by our GYO Grant (Hillsboro School District and districts served by Clackamas ESD with whom we have partnerships). Awards decisions will be made on a first-come, first-served basis upon acceptance in the program.
  • If awards are still available after that, the second round will include all MAT teacher candidates, regardless of district.
  • These decisions will be made in late Spring 2022.
