Peer Advising and Tutoring

The College of Education Ambassadors offer peer advising and tutoring services for prospective and current students with virtual and in-person options available. You can schedule an appointment ahead of time or drop-in during our scheduled hours. See below for our current schedule and to learn about more about our peer advisors/tutors.

Peer advising hours

For prospective students with questions about becoming a teacher and programs in the College of Education programs or current Education Double Degree students with general questions.

Schedule an appointment or check-in online (for drop-in appointments) via Bookings. Zoom links for virtual appointments will be provided after completing the Bookings form.

Peer Tutoring 

For students entering their student teaching year, come discuss concerns or questions with current student teachers. Ambassadors can provide feedback and information about applying and what to expect from the upcoming year. For current Education Double Degree students, they can also provide peer tutoring to prepare for ORELA exams.

Hi my name is Jordan! I’m in my second year at OSU, studying in the double degree program. My majors are History and Education with an option in secondary

Social Studies teaching, and I'm also a part of the Honors College. I’m from San Jose, California, and I love spending time with my two dogs.

Angel Olmos Lopez

Hi! My name is Angel Olmos Lopez (He/Him). I'm a First-Generation college student working towards a B.S. in History & Education at Oregon State. My interests are cooking, gardening, weight lifting, and creating equity within social structures. I am also bilingual in Spanish and English. College is complex, so if you have any questions regarding the Education pathways that Oregon State offers, History, or just general OSU questions, feel free to contact me and I will help in any way that I can.

Hello! My name is Casey and I am a 4th-year student majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences and have experience with elementary education and the Education minor. I’ve been pretty active in Greek life on campus throughout my time at OSU and love meeting new people. Outside of school, I enjoy baking and working out.

Dionné Mejía

Hi, my name is Dionné! I am a post baccalaureate student (completing a second bachelor's degree) majoring in education at OSU. I hope to be a science teacher in either middle or high school when I graduate. I am also interested in teaching ESOL, dual language, or Spanish in the future and am bilingual in Spanish and English. I am in my last year at OSU and I am currently student teaching. In my spare time I enjoy riding my bike, cooking, and camping with friends.

C. Alex Varela

My name is Alex! I'm a Senior at OSU, and I'm pursuing degrees in History and Education with a focus in Secondary Social Studies. I am deeply passionate about cultivating equity in education through the practice of a social justice pedagogy. I completed my Honors Thesis on the ways in which we can restructure 9-12 Social Studies curriculum to center the experience of marginalized groups while still executing upon the State Social Studies Standards. I am currently in student teaching and can help students prepare for the application process or what to expect for student teaching.
