Students will begin the process to apply for their student teaching year (professional level of the Education Double Degree process) in the fall of the year they are completing their primary degree requirements, Education prerequisites, and content mastery courses. Students ready to apply can start by attending an Application Workshop to learn the details about the application process. After attending a workshop, students will be added to a Professional Application Canvas site to submit their application materials (due by February 1st, unless otherwise indicated). If students are unable to attend an application workshop, they can make an appointment with Head Advisor, Niki Weight.

Application Process

  1. Attend a Pre-Education Orientation Session or meet with an Education advisor to add the Pre-Ed program and endorsement option.
  2. Complete the education prerequisites
  3. Complete primary major and option courses
  4. Attend one professional level application meeting during Fall Term before your professional year 
  5. Accept Canvas invitation to Professional Application Site
  6. Submit all application materials on Canvas (test scores, references, etc.)

 

Application materials to be submitted on Canvas:

  • Subject Area Exam Score Report (if you have taken)
  • TSPC Proof of Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Placement Preference Form
  • FERPA Consent
  • Current Resume – remember this will be viewed by placement sites which often become potential employers, be professional.
  • Cover Letter (1 page) – remember this will be viewed by placement sites which often become potential employers, be professional.
  • Unofficial Transcripts from all institutions (other than OSU) you have attended
  • If you have not taken ED 309 or ED 409: Hours Verification
  • Two Letters of Reference (upload to Canvas)
    • One evaluation from someone who has observed you in a classroom setting (e.g. ED 309, 4H&U, volunteer experience). Supervisor can provide a signed letter of reference or complete the Online Supervisor Evaluation
