Education Double Degree Advising

Information for current and prospective students about advising within the College of Education and to serve as a helpful resource to navigate the Education Double Degree.

Prospective Education Students

Attend a Pre-Education Orientation Session to learn more about teacher education programs at OSU (specifically the Double Degree program), connect with fellow students, declare Pre-Education (for the Education Double Degree secondary major - if desired), and to ask any questions.

Sign up for a Pre-Education Orientation Session

If the orientation session times do not work with a schedule or if you have other general questions, you can drop-in or make an appointment with a peer advisor.

Application Process

Students will begin the process to apply for their student teaching year (professional level of the Education Double Degree process) in the fall of the year they are completing their primary degree requirements, Education prerequisites, and content mastery courses. Students ready to apply will start by attending an Application Workshop (see details below) to learn the details about the application process. After attending a workshop, students will be added to a Professional Application Canvas site to submit their application materials (due by February 1st, unless otherwise indicated). If you are planning to apply to the Professional Level of the Education Double Degree for Fall 2022 make an appointment with Niki Weight as soon as possible. Application workshops for students entering the Professional Level in Fall 2023 will be held in Fall 2022.

Application Workshops (no reservation required)

There are no further Application Workshops scheduled for the Fall 2023 application. If you are planning to enter student teaching in Fall 2023, make an appointment with Niki Weight, Head Advisor, to discuss options and the application process. If you are entering student teaching in Fall 2024, additional workshop dates will be available in Fall 2023.
