The ESOL Endorsement Program is a licensure program, but it isn’t considered an OSU certificate or degree program.
If you plan to complete the full endorsement program, please complete our program application:
Students who are concurrently enrolled in a teacher licensure program may apply at any time. Student typically apply to the ESOL endorsement program at the same time as their teacher licensure program application. You may only be conditionally accepted to the ESOL endorsement program until you are fully accepted to a student teaching cohort.
Please note that Double Degree candidates are encouraged to take ED 219, ED 472, ED 476, and ED 479 prior to their student teaching cohort year. It is helpful, though you may wait to officially apply as an endorsement candidate, to let Stacey Lee know you are interested in completing the full endorsement.
Students who are concurrently enrolled in a teacher licensure program at OSU-Cascades in Bend are expected to submit their ESOL applications to Jordon Zardinejad. See the OSU-Cascades website for more information.
Students who already have a valid Oregon teaching license, normally take classes exclusively online through extended campus (Ecampus). If you live in the Bend-area, you may choose to take a combination of on-campus OSU-Cascades courses and online Ecampus courses; however, you should apply as an Ecampus student.
If you are not currently enrolled in another academic program at OSU, you need to complete a non-degree-graduate student application prior to registering for any courses:
Through this process, you will be assigned an OSU identification number or, for alumni, have your OSU identification number reactivated. If you have questions, you can contact the OSU Graduate School office at 541-737-4881.
Our Ecampus courses are designed for people who are already licensed to teach in Oregon. Please start by taking ED 522 Racial and Cultural Harmony in the K-12 Classroom and ED 572 Foundations of ESOL Education. If you plan to complete the full endorsement program, we recommend completing our program application after taking one of these courses.
The Ecampus Getting Started Guide is a great resource for information about setting up your online account and registering for classes. New students are expected to complete the Ecampus Online Orientation to receive a registration PIN number.
We follow regular Ecampus graduate program tuition. Non-degree-seeking students are not eligible for financial aid through Oregon State University. Some school districts offer financial assistance and/or OSU tuition reduction vouchers to their employees for coursework leading to an ESOL endorsement.
