How to apply to the online Master of Education (EdM) program

The Master of Education program is currently undergoing changes and is not accepting new enrollments for AY2017-2018. Please contact Amy Hoffman, 541-737-2545, for more information or to be notified when the program reopens for enrollment. Current students are still able to register for courses.


This is not a licensure program. Applicants need to be working teachers or informal educators with access to a learning environment.

Admission requirements

Ideal applicants are either licensed K-12 teachers or informal educators with at least one year of education experience.

  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 
  • All applicants must have access to a classroom or informal learning setting (e.g. zoo, museum, nature center) to apply course work.

The K-12 education courses are also available to teachers needing credits for licensure renewal even if you are not enrolled in the master's program. For more details, read our non-degree student admission information.

When to apply

The Master of Education program is on hold currently, and you will not be able to apply.  For more information, contact Amy Hoffman, 541-737-2545.

The EdM program admits one cohort each year with classes beginning fall term.

Priority deadline – apply before April 1 to receive your admission decision notification by May 1.

Final deadline – apply by August 1 to receive your admission decision notification by Aug 31.

How to apply

Apply to the OSU Graduate School

Apply as a degree-seeking student through the OSU Graduate School’s online application form. The application fee is $75 for domestic applicants and $85 for international applicants (nonrefundable).

In addition, submit the following materials:
  • Personal goal statement
  • Résumé/vita
  • Transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Writing sample
  • Diversity statement
  • TOEFL score (international applicants only)

All application materials go to the graduate school.
