ESOL/Bilingual Endorsement Program

ESOL endorsement students

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/Bilingual Endorsement Program at Oregon State University focuses on helping Oregon's pre-primary through twelfth grade (P-12) teachers learn how to effectively work with students who are learning English as an additional language.

Currently licensed teachers and students in one of OSU's teacher preparation programs can earn either the ESOL endorsement (only requiring fluency in English) or the ESOL/bilingual endorsement (requiring fluency in English and Spanish) as an addition to their Oregon teaching licenses.

We offer on-campus classes in Corvallis and Bend, as well as online classes that are specifically designed for licensed teachers.

The coursework is based on six core domains from the Oregon Administrative Rules: language; culture; planning, implementing, and managing instruction; assessment; professionalism; and technology.

Our curriculum is driven by the educational needs of emergent bilingual students.  At the same time, we are proud to be a vital part in the College of Education’s larger focus on Cultural and Linguistic Diversity.
